Bad things happen in sixes... (or two sets of threes)

What a week it's been!  Last Sunday I started feeling crummy (#1) and I ended up having a terrible headache and  fever...  then my brand-new washing machine (6 months old)  broke that afternoon (#2).  Nothing like smelling electrical burning with an awful noise...  so I hand wrung out the clothes that were in the dead machine which still (yes, still) has about 4 inches of water in it and carted them over to my neighbor's to spin.  Washing machine guy couldn't get here for 9 days which is tomorrow, so fingers crossed he can fix it.  I stayed home Monday hoping for a better turnout... not to happen!

Then, Lucia got the virus (#3) and was home from Wednesday on.  Of course, Murphy's Luck being what it is, Dennis was out of town.  So Wednesday night, poor Liam got it with projectile vomiting and a fever of almost 102 (#4)... needless to say we ended up in the pediatric ER.  Dennis, God bless him, drove home from Philly (thanks again Mom and Dad for letting us borrow your car!) and got in at 4AM... then helped take care of both kids on Thursday, and ended up getting sick himself (#5).... AAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!

FINALLY on Saturday afternoon / evening, Lucia shook the virus.  But, that apparently wasn't good enough.  Because she went and broke her thumb Saturday night (#6) so we spent Sunday BACK in the pediatric ER (where they recognized us from Wednesday) and then today she was casted.  She'll be in it for 3 weeks - not too bad, and a very clean break.  But a break none-the-less....  Liam had his 4 month check up today is did great, so maybe we are on an upswing now?

The good news is I weighed in at 220.4 this morning... After last week, I'll take it!

Movin' on down...

Just a quick Friday update... The title is not quite the Jefferson's ("We're Movin' on Up!")... but the scale is thankfully moving down, they way it is supposed to be.  221.4 as of this morning, which is 14 pounds lighter than my physical in early August, so I am quite happy with that!  The adjustment has been a good thing, although I've had a virus for a week and fighting a bit of acid reflux so I am keeping a CLOSE eye on that to make sure I'm not too tight.  Clothes are starting to fit better, and I put some in-between pants on the other day and they are getting too big.  YAY!  That is always a good feeling.

Personally, my whole family has the crud... a virus that has been mainly fever/headache for the big kids, but unfortunately projectile vomiting for poor Liam... he's doing much better and Lucia is fine except for the fever which we can't shake - very frustrating!

Looking forward to keeping the scale moving in this direction and keeping ya'll posted.  Need a new weight ticker, so will look for one soon.  Happy Fall Weekend!

Adjusted and it is a good thing!

lapband 10 centimetreWednesday afternoon I got my adjustment... they added in about 1/2 a cc, bringing me to 6, and I am down to 224 this morning.  I'll gladly take it!  Boy - it is amazing what a difference 1/2 a cc makes... Wednesday afternoon was full liquid, and yesterday and today were mushies.  Yesterday I had a 4 oz. container of cottage cheese for breakfast and then a Chobani greek yogurt for lunch.  For dinner I had about 1/2 a cup (maybe) of casserole that I mushed up.  COMPLETLEY STUFFED between the meals... YAY!  This morning (and it is lunch time now), I've had coffee and more coffee... never was hungry for breakfast.  I drank a small (4 oz) chocolate milk, and now am working on Wendy's chili.  I got a potato too, why, I am not sure because after 4 bites of chili, I am about done...  I am SO GLAD to have restriction again!  Hooray!  Here's hoping it is the right level and I don't go to the other side of being too tight....

Oh - and on the family front, Dennis comes home tonight from a week away - can't wait to see him!  Lucia is reading like it is going out of style, and Liam is sleeping through the night...  all week he's gone at least 7 hours.  WHOO HOOO!  Last night was 9 hours.  I could get used to this quite quickly!

I fear, the time is near...

Yup.  Time to stop pretending I just had a baby.  Time to stop making excuses. (For example:  I ONLY had a baby 4 months ago... that is still "just", right?  Don't I have at least 8 more months to use that exuse?)

(Ahem...)  Anyways, I weighed in this morning and was pretty impressed with the scale, given my steady (albeit slow) intake of libations over the last few weeks...  When I went to my doc's office about 3 weeks ago for my physical, I weighed in there at 232.  This morning I was 227.4.  Not too shaby, again considering that I've done NOTHING in regard to exercise except lift a wine glass...  that counts as exercise, right?  Wine-glass-lifting... sometimes a big one, sometimes a smaller one, sometimes a heavy cut glass one, sometimes a cheap-o dollar store one.  I have to balance out the muscle use of course!

I've lost weight... what is to be bummed about?  Well, at lunch today with Dennis (yes, we actually got to go to lunch together!) I had a delicous seafood chimichanga and ate all of it.  Yup.  All of it.  So between obviously needing to get my lapband adjusted (October 12th can't come soon enough), stopping my drinking with my eating (i.e. drinking water with my meal) and really working to cut back on the wine, I've got to change something.

Since that just isn't enough for me to attempt on its own (overacheiver here), I've decided that I also need to actually start the core exercise routine the trainer gave me AND get our family calendar back in shape.   I'm starting first thing tomorrow.  After I have a glass of wine tonight as I plan it all out.  Happy Friday, ya'll!

Back to school and MIA... sorry!

Wow... it's been over a month since I've last blogged!  I have to say, getting back into the swing of work, and having a second kid (i.e. baby) has definitely kept me busy!

On the home front, we've started school (both Lucia AND Liam) and are finally getting into a routine of sorts, although we aren't quite there yet. I am looking forward to us really getting into a daily routine where we know exactly what is happening and when. I think that will help me a lot with my weight loss (see below).  I haven't been doing very well on the band front, but I feel good that today I am focusing on water and protein, and have some short-term goals in place... one of which is to be better about blogging...
Liam - School Picture Day (3 months old)

Lucia - 1st day of School, 2nd Grade (7 yrs old)

On the band front, I am not feeling at all good about my body right now, and as a result, I've chosen to hide from blogging a bit.  I got filled about a month ago and have lost maybe (?!?!?) 5 pounds if I am lucky.  I am really struggling with getting back into the groove of being banded.  Although I have more restriction than I did, I don't have enough - but at the same point, don't want to get more right now until I can get back into my routine of not drinking with meals, focusing on high protein, etc...  And to be completely honest, I have been partaking in far too much wine.  This weekend I cooked up a bunch of the egg bites from Eggface's website, and also made some other things that I can grab-and-go with from the freezer - I am hoping that will help me kick things along.  My biggest struggle is figuring out how to fit exercising back into this new routine, because with Liam's eating schedule and getting up in the middle of the night, running early in the morning like I used to isn't in the cards right now.

Before going back to work, we were in the Outer Banks... Jacquie and I were supposed to connect, but unfortunately Hurricane Irene had other plans and the OBX ended up being evacuated... very bummed, but at least I know I'll get to see Jacquie sometime this fall/spring when we head south to FL next...

OK... it's a new "season" (I always think the start of school should be the start of a new year), so I am hoping that I can really get back into a better routine and back below 200 soon!!!
