Back to a non-drugged world...

Hi everyone!  I'm about 48 hours out now... yippee!  Feeling pretty good, all things considered.  I'm trying to move from Percocet to Tylenol today - so far doing alright, but some of my incisions are pretty sore, so I'm not sure I'll be able to do it full-time... oh well - gotta start somewhere!
So the overall experience, what I remember of it, was a good one.  I love the fact that I don't remember anything from the "holding" area until recovery.  That is okay with me!  I got glowing remarks from my nurses and doctor that I was doing everything I was supposed to do, so that is good.  And apparently everything in terms of the surgery was textbook.  No heital hernia, I did a great job on my liver shrinking diet, so they had the band in place within about 10 minutes according to the surgeon...  My surgery was apparently done somewhere around 11ish, but unfortunately recovery was a bit more time consuming because I was pretty nauseous.  So, I didn't make it upstairs until after 2pm.  Once I got up there, I was put into a triple room - YUCK.   They were completely booked - my unit was the step down for cardiac patients and the bariatric unit...  thank GOD I ended up getting my own room around 7pm because my roommate on one side was sawing wood and talking in her sleep, then would inevitably wake up when I needed to go to the bathroom and complain that I was going.  On the other side, there was a lady who must have gotten 14 phone calls in two hours... she was only going to be in there for an hour (same operation as me) - what the heck did she need all those calls for?
I did end up getting my own room - THANK GOD!  But unfortunately, I got sick last night - not fun.  They really don't want you throwing up because of all the focus on the stomach.  I think I ended up getting sick because my morphine drip broke and I didn't have any pain meds for 3 hours, but no one noticed... Once I got thru that, things seemed to get better until about 3am, when we realized that my IV had infiltrated (?) my arm, meaning that the fluids were going into my arm - not my vein - so my arm ballooned up.  But, they fixed all of that and I was able to leave by about 11:30.  I had to get an upper GI, where they tracked the liquid to make sure that the band wasn't leaking (it isn't) - that was cool to watch.  Dennis came in around 10, and then I was discharged around 11:30.    That is the fun story!  I had a good nap yesterday and was in bed by 7.  I've already taken one nap today, not my last!   Mom and Dad are here, and we're going to go to the grocery store, then come back...  Just in time for my next nap!
Liquids are going okay.  I'm not hungry in the least, but have to drink at least 3 to 4 of these shakes a day, plus water... it is hard to get in, but I'm working on it!  I'll post more soon.  Love you all and thanks for your wishes and support!
