100 Days
Can you believe it? It's been 100 days since I had the surgery! And honestly, in hindsight I can say it was the best decision I ever could have made. I feel so darn good. Physically, emotionally, confidence-wise, etc... It took me a long time to get to the point where I decided to do this (over 4 years) but I really believe I wasn't supposed to get to that point where I was ready until I got there, if that makes sense. Everything has gone incredibly smoothly since I started the process. Yes, I've had bumps in the road. Once or twice a big pothole. And yes, sometimes I've felt some odd emotions about the whole thing (i.e. last week's post). Sometimes sad, but mostly happy. But overall, I know without a doubt it was the right decision and I'm glad I made it!
Catherine's recent post about revisiting her initial plan for success inspired me to re-set some goals for myself over the next 100 days... Here are a few of mine:
- Measure my food. I've never been good at this, and need to be better.
- Chew my food more thoroughly than I currently am. No major problems yet, but I eat too fast... need to work on this one!
- Really work on getting my veggies and fruits in after the protein (I love carbs. Enough said)
- Limit my alcohol intake. I love wine. Seriously. In fact, I found a new cocktail this weekend that was wonderful. And when I drink, I don't pay as much attention to the rules of not eating & drinking at the same time, chewing things to mush, etc... So, more focus here!
- Get healthier "treats" in the house and the bad ones out. We're not too bad here - but I need to get more sugar-free things like popsicles, etc... in the house vs. ice cream and such. Better for all of us that way!
- Get rid of the clothes that are too big. I have a pile of them. Yesterday, I gave a bunch to a friend. Now I need to get rid of the rest...
- Get a plan for upcoming travels... we're going to the beach in a week (Outer Banks, NC) and then in 3 weeks we head to WDW and St. Augustine in Florida. I need a solid plan for the 12 hours in the car, and while we're there eating out most meals. Any thoughts from other bandsters out there?
- Don't eat food in the car. Period. That is when I get stuck. And it isn't healthy, so I just need to not do it.
- Keep sharing tips and experiences and learn from others via blog network. And keep your eyes open... I have two that I'm going to share in a separate post! Not just band-specific either.
can't wait to see what the next 100 days brings!

Sarah, your doing great!! On a 12 hour trip, you might need to eat in the car. As you have read on my blog, I'm super tight right now and the one thing that goes down fine are cheese and crakers. Keeble Townhouse and Provolone cheese to be exact. Maybe you could pack a small cooler with cheese and crackers, yogart sugar free candy to help in between meals so you don't get too hungry when meal times come around. I find if I'm not starving, I make better choices when eating out. As far as eating out, most places have salads, but chicken nuggets chewed well can do okay with me when I'm not too tight. They are not the healthiest choice, but a small serving and maybe a salad woudn't be bad (I wouldn't think).
This is great! And, I love it that my post was helpful! :)
Would it be too boring to just pack a SlimFast or two on ice for the car trip? I know sometimes it's not that appealing to do a shake if other people are eating around me. Still, I like the Cappuccino flavor of SlimFast and it really does keep me full. Maybe that would be a good option b/c you wouldn't get stuck and it's easy to have if you are driving.
Have a safe and fun trip! You should be OK in restaurants -- just order a lot of yummy fresh grilled fish.
Package is going out to you today. I hope you like everything!
