I thought I would hold out until today to get a "good fare" for the
BOOBS gathering. GD! SHIT! F&%K!!! I blew it. In my never ending quest to save money, prices are now up a good $60 on top of what they were (which I thought was expensive). Ugh. Why is Richmond, VA so damn expensive to fly in and out of?!?!? Come on people - we aren't THAT far away from the real world!!! The question now is do I book at the higher price or hold out a bit longer and see if I can get it cheaper! Between this and figuring out who I can room with there, this is kind of stressful!

As a random side note, does anyone else think this whole thing is too good to be true? I kind of feel like I'm falling for some scam and I'm going to show up in Chicago and no one else will be there, I'll be naked and lose my wallet or something. I'm still coming regardless... stretch marks on my fat, naked butt and all! And I can't wait to meet ya'll!!!

I can feel your frustration with ticket prices! I have to fly from Hawaii to the mainland like 3-4 times a year.
One thing I have learned...normally buy on a Monday and Tuesday, they are the lowest days for fares. Also...sometimes places like kayak.com, priceline and orbitz have okay deals...every once in a while you can get a cheaper fare from booking thru the actual airline.

I know what you mean. I can't believe that so many people are making this trip. I mean, I knew everyone was supportive in blogland, but to actually take the time and money to meet in person? It blows me away.

Never thought about showing up and no one would be there. I don't get out much so this is my definite (unless I die between now and then). But just like in "Weekend at Bernies" just prop me up and have a good time with me.
I too have heard the best prices are on Mondays and Tuesdays. I fly standby so won't know my actual flight until the day before I leave.

I haven't bought my ticket either. Statistically flights are cheapest between 21 and 14 days before the flight. It makes me nervous to wait that long. So I signed up for kayak.com. You can track fares. When there is a downward trend they will email you to alert you that it is the time to buy. They will also show you fare history for past years.
