FELLOW BANDSTERS.... LEARN A LESSON FROM ME!!!
- Acid Reflux
- Hiccups
- Night Coughing (didn't have this one)
- Lightheadedness in the morning
- Regurgitation / Vomiting
- Pain in the lower chest / abdomen
- Discomfort while eating
- Poor food choices
She told me that normally in this situation, they take all the fluid out - to have this many signs start so quickly when I've been fine for 4 months is not normal (note: last fill was 10/11/09). So she took out 6 cc's in my case. However, I must have looked really pathetic, because she decided to "let the negative gravity of the band take back what it needed to "neutralize" (her terminology) the band" which was 3.5 cc's... basically a bit more than I had post-surgery. And told me I need to come in and go under Floro to see what's going on... Hopefully that will be next Tuesday. Also, my port is super tipped - she can still access it, but if at some point she can't, that is an outpatient surgery... BIG SIGH! So, I'm down to 3.5 cc's and my tummy is growling already. I'm on full liquids for a few days, then mushy food, then back to normal... fingers crossed that all it is, is my stomach being a bit inflamed... won't know until the Floro. But, now, I have the pleasure of Bandster Hell to re-live until I get refilled.... (sigh).

Okay - I can do this - I already have - and the silver lining, is that maybe I'll actually get below 200 for a few days while on liquids! I'll keep you all posted! Things like this make me very appreciative that we have great insurance.

oh no!! That's sounds terrible :-(
Take care
so sorry you had this happen to you. Thanks for sharing and reminding us we have to pay attention to our bodies.
If you have to have the surgery for your port I just wanted to tell you its not that bad. While I did not have a flipped port I had an infection a week after my original surgery and had to have it removed and then put back in a couple months later. Putting it back in was not bad, in and out in a few hours and not much pain.
I hope it does not come to that!!
Ugh, that sucks. So sorry. Hope you're back to normal really soon.
Oh Sarah this sucks!! its the same thing that happened to me in January! but my doc only took out
.90cc's and now I have .30 back. I hope you can use your control and keep losing! I know how being to tight feels it is NOT fun.
That is super annoying! I'm sorry about that. I hope you can get re-filled soon!!!
I'm sorry Sarah. I was completely unfilled in December and it sucked. Once they made sure everything was OK, they filled me back up pretty aggressively.
Hopefully you'll get under 200 and stay! Take care!
Sarah- Im so sorry and thanks for posting this since I am having some issues myself with this last fill of 0.1cc. Very minor but I guess since I already have 7.1cc in there this might be putting me over the edge. Yesterday I had some horrible pain after some strained pea soup. So taking your advice and experience to heart and staying on liquids for an extra day !!
Really hope you get this resolved soon and that it's just swelling !! Glad to see that you've found the silver lining !!
I certainly know how you feel because I have no fluid in my band. I'm hungry and have to be 100% conscious of how much I eat and to push away after a portion even though I'm still hungry. I go back to the doc on 2/26 and am counting the days. I miss the satisfied feeling I had with a band with fluid. But this is short-lived and the doc will get me back to where I need to be. The same will happen for you! Hang in there!
Oh, my! You poor thing. You seem to have a positive attitude about this - I hope there was nothing injured and they can get you filled again as soon as the swelling goes down.
I wonder what changed after 4 months?
I'm dreading this happening to me. I'm going to really think about my own band. I've been really tight since my fill on the Feb. 1st. I have 7cc's/10cc band. I have 4 of those symptoms. Hmmm..
Oh Sarah!! So sorry that this happened to you. Too many friends with over fill issues lately. Sending you good thoughts and a big hug! xoxo
I am so sorry you are going through this Sarah. You are on top of it now so hang in and I'm sure it will work out!
Sarah what a bummer! I hope you are feeling better soon and they can also refill you as well. I have an appointmnet for a little fill in march, but occasionally I have some of the symptoms you described. I think I may actually hold off on my fill.
What a huge pain! Hope you do okay on liquids and everything is sorted soon.
So sorry you have to go through all this! You can absolutely do it! Hopefully, everything will look alright under fluoro
Good luck! We'll be thinking of you. Thanks for sharing all of those signs of being too tight!
Sarah, I had this happen to me also. Last October around my year anniversary, after losing 70 lbs (I was at 170) my Dr. unfilled me from 8.4 to 5. I was too tight and ignored the signals because I was so excited to be losing and my personality is fairly obsessive. It was scary because I was afraid my band had slipped but after I realized it had not I was upset and worried about how I was going to make it through the holidays and not gain tons of weight. My Dr. has been very conservative in re-filling my band. It has been 3 months and I probably still need another .1 or .2 to be back to good restriction despite fill appointments every 2-3 weeks. What I can tell you is that over 3 months, over the holidays, and being unresticted I have gained 8 lbs. I am looking at this as a good thing and a learning experience. I am trying not to focus on the amount of weight or time lost and just get back to basics. I feel I am under control (even with the weight gain) and am excited to start again--this time with only 40 lbs to lose instead of 100!. If you want I believe you can contact me by email through my google account to talk more about this (I do not have a blog). You will get through this. Tracy
Sorry Sarah, this sounds like a major drag! Hopefully you will get back to the green zone soon!
Sarah! I read this last night but my computer was being a pain in the ass and I couldnt comment! i cant believe this happened to you of all people!!! You are my good girl bandster! It just goes to show that it can happen to anyone.
Keep us posted. I will be thinking of you!
Wow...sounds really strange...poor you. Will be hoping everything is ok for you on Tuesday...good luck
Oh man! I'm sorry!! I hope nothing is really wrong when you go under fluoro! :)
