On my end, I'm doing well - the weight loss is slowing from the crazy numbers over the last week or two - still .5 pounds away from 20, but I know I'll get there! I've been enjoying my mushy foods - trying to find some additional variety outside of eggs, cottage cheese, and yogurt. And I'm still trying to make sure I get 60 grams of protein a day - way harder than I anticipated! I had a very chopped chicken salad of sorts the other day that was pretty good and I'm going to hunt around the internet a bit today for other suggestions. Since I'm going back to work tomorrow, I guess I'd better start figuring out what I'm going to pack and bring with me!
I've had a number of questions about what exactly the lap-band looks like, so I've included a link to another blog that has great pictures (http://chroniclesfrombandland.blogspot.com/ and it is the Feb. 24th post). You'll see that my stomach is now kind of shaped like an hour glass, with the top section MUCH smaller than the bottom - that is my "new" stomach if you will, and is currently able to hold about 1/2 to 2/3 a cup or so at a time of food. Once I actually have a "fill" (where the saline is put into my port), that will tighten the actual band, which will make the section that the food goes through much smaller. So I'll be able to only eat about 1/2 a cup at a time for a meal (4 oz.). My biggest challenge right now is eating slowly, so if you're having a meal with me, challenge me to slow down!
The other challenge I am having right now is that I itch! Big time... the "super glue" over my incisions is starting to come off, and I am terribly itchy - it is hell right now - feels like I've been bitten by 200 mosquitos in the same place. Oh well - I guess it comes along with the territory.
Happy March! Check out my lists on the right... another way to track my stuff and keep me honest.
