My words of wisdom for today... Mom always said to slow down when you eat. Well, I'm echoing that one! This lapband surgery thing is really teaching me some lessons... And number one is to eat slowly and listen to your body about when you're full! I'm still on the mushy stage, but find that I'm able to eat a bit more than I had been a few days back. Still MUCH less than before the surgery though. But I don't always recognize the signs before I have eaten too much too quickly.
I went out to lunch today with a friend, and ate way to much. Granted, just mushy stuff (rice and beans) but still too much. Probably won't eat much for dinner tonight! It is a good lesson though - and exciting to know that my stomach capacity - even pre-fill is much less than it was before. Yay! I'll gladly take this uncomfortable feeling as a lesson that (a) I might not be able to do Mexican anymore and (b) that I've gone too far in how much I ate! Lessons learned I hope.
I'm having to also remind myself that this month to 6 weeks after surgery is about healing, not weight loss. Seeing good results 'till now has made me hungry for more (pun intended) ... but right now, it is about meeting the protein guidelines (hard!) and getting in enough liquid (some days easier than others). But, I am seeing small signs - like a pair of capri pants that were VERY tight in the fall now fitting loosely, and a shirt that I like doing the same! So, there is something to be said for those NSV's! (non-scale victories)

I bet you will be able to eat mexican again. When I came off the mushie stage, we went to Ruby Tuesdays for Vday. I had a chicken quesidilla (spelling?). Anyone, at the risk of TMI (but thats never stopped me before) I was in the bathroom for almost an hour and a half straight! Have mercy. My boyfriend brought me medicine about every half hour. I just dont think my stomach could handle the spices (it was pretty mild, but it wasnt chicken soup). I can eat on now and not have to visit the b-room!
