Lucia... trying on the dress & headpiece (Dennis had to hold the dress in the back)

Lu; A little Bridal Attitude!
So, for whatever reason today, Lucia and I were looking at our wedding pictures... For those of you with 6 year olds, you know what that is like! Lots of "ooohs and aaahs" and questions. And usually we watch the
Chris Brown Wedding Entrance first (two or three times) and after lots of giggles (and tears on my part because it is such a great celebration of love) we then look at the pictures. So, we followed normal procedure. And then, she said "Mommy, do you still have your wedding dress?" And I said "Yes, it is upstairs in the guest room"... One thing led to another and we decided to go up and see just how much extra space there was in it. Needless to say, it was
A MAJOR NSV!!!! Or maybe more appropriately, an SV! Because you see, when I bought the dress, it was a size 32. I was thrilled at that point that it was too big (they had to use clothes-pins to show me what it would look like after being fitted) and I had it down-sized to a 24 for the wedding, which was form-fitting. And now? Well, you be the judge...
Then and Now.
I'm happy to show the cleavage! What little there is left (I am NOT thrilled that this particular part shrunk)... And to see the grin on Lu's face when I let her try the dress on.... priceless... especially when she said "Mommy, I want to wear this when I get married - and will Grandma make me a headpiece too?!?!?" (My mom, painstakingly with love, made my headpiece and veil). Awesome.

Holy shit. This puts it in perspective for me!

EASILY 10 inches of fabric I was holding together to make it semi-snug...

Woo Hoo! Major NSV! That is so cool!
AWESOME NSV!
Very cool to see you in your wedding dress and see the change. I was a size 16 in my wedding dress and 175 lbs and thought I was fat. I hope I'll appreciate 175 more this time around.
Such a great NSV!!!
How much fun is that! You seriously look wonderful!
SCORE!!!! That is what its all about!
That is amazing. I guess I'm in a super stntimental mood and it made me tear up. You were a BEAUTIFUL bride!
Way to go Sarah!!!
Oh God that's just awesome. I should try this. I got married before I had my breast reduction so for sure that part has to be big on me now!
You're looking fantastic mama...good day for you.
It's a beautiful dress no matter what size it was. Maybe you can have it resized for a wedding vow renewal, and use the extra fabric to make Lucia a dress too! That could be fun.
You are looking great.
Way to go!!!
Woohoo! What a great NSV! What a gorgeous dress too!

Very pretty dress and the picture differences are amazing. You make me want to pull out my dress and see the differences!

major victory. Normally it is the other way around not being able to fit into your wedding dress after so many years, kids and brownies.
Great for you.
