Quantitative "V's" vs. Qualitative NSV's

QUANTITATIVE: OK... Numbers do tell a story... I'm up in my weight a bit this morning (0.8 pounds), but down almost 47.1 pounds total so far. When you look at the inches, that speaks for itself! I wish I had measured before surgery, but since April (which was about 2 months out from surgery), I'm down 34.5 inches... so I figure it is well over 40 from before surgery... The most lost is in my abdomen - over 8 inches there so far! Here are the specifics by body part...
  • BUST: From 45 to 41.75 (-3.25)
  • CHEST: From 40 to 39 (-1)
  • WAIST: From 41.5 to 38 (-3.5)
  • HIPS: From 56.5 to 52 (-4.5)
  • ABDOMEN: From 56 to 47.75 (-8.25)
  • THIGHS (x2): From 66.25 to 62 (-4.25)
  • UPPER ARMS (x2): From 32 to 27.5 (-4.5)

Not including the few inches lost from my ankels, knees and forearms

TOTAL INCHES LOST SO FAR = 34.5 (at least)!

QUALITATIVE: Well, you all have had NSV's and I've listed many of them in prior posts - that part of the journey has just been great. From not getting winded climbing stairs, to being able to run and play with Lucia, to fitting in the airplane seat (still want some more movement here to get more comfortable), to knowing that this time it is real, all of these have been major wins!

This was such a great post! I am reading it with my mom (who follows your blog too & is visiting), and we are so impressed with your progress!

I love counting up the inches -- isn't that best feeling?! :) I think you are smart to count the thigh/arm loss twice. I haven't done that, but it makes perfect sense.

Congratulations!!

Catherine

Way to go! I've not measured myself yet but you've inspired me to go do that today. Gotta find the tape measure! I haven't lost much on the scale but my clothes have changed after these last 4 weeks working out. Wish I would have measured myself sooner. Congrats to you!! Such a great accomplishment!

Great job! My first NSV was when my family went out to a restaurant and there were only booths left! I haven't been able to fit in a booth in a long time. Well guess what, I fit in one again! It was awesome!!!

I'm new to blogging and I see you are quite experienced. Your comments/impressions would be very much welcomed on my site (www.hungry2live.com)

Sarah,

I was shocked when looking at your thigh/arm measurements and then saw the 2x note! We did my measurements this weekend for my big BEFORE numbers. Day 2 of liquids for me and I'm not a happy camper, but the end goal is in sight again! I believe what it all boils down to is how you feel and health! You're well on the way to perfect.
