Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell, Jingle all 44 minutes...

OK - my first "OFFICIAL" 5k is under my belt! Just back from running in the Jingle Bell Run and yes, everyone was jingling! Thank god I had some music, and that I was way slower than everyone else because I think the jingles would have really annoyed me. I'm calling this the official first 5k, because the first race I ran last month wasn't actually 5k... it was a few tenths of a mile short. At any rate, I finished in slightly over 44 minutes, which I am very happy with especially because (a) it was COLD and (b) there were some seriously steep hills!!! Whoo Hooo! I feel really good - tired, but good. What a great way to start my Saturday! I'll try to post some pix soon, but they are on my ipod nano as video and I need to figure out how to convert them. Dennis, Ali and I (and the kids) are signed up for another one in mid-December, a Toys-For-Tots 5k, so something to keep me working toward in terms of motivation!

That's awesome! Congratulations! I have been reading your blog recently and really enjoy it. I am getting banded next week and one of my goals is to run a 5K in the Spring.

I am another that will be banded in the Spring. You have inspired me to start training for a 5k. I've never run in my life (unless you count elementary school) but reading what you have accomplished has really changed my thinking. Why should I wait until I'm "skinny" to start working on my fitness goals? You go, girl!! Thanks for the inspiration!

Wow! You're on a roll if you have yet another 5k. And you RUN them! I'm impressed. I'm going to start working on the couch to 5k. Post on that to come soon! Running all these 5ks in such a short time period will get that scale moving for you I'm sure!

I am so impressed with you!! And, major kudos for getting out of bed and on with your run the day you overslept!! Can you believe how far you've come . . only a few months ago, you blogged your confession about wanting to run. And now, you have two races under your (ever-shrinking) belt! Way to go!!! :)
