One more thing off of the list! I went, I waited around, and around, and froze my tush off, but I finished! Yippee!!! I will say though, that it was the least enjoyable race I've done yet. Not because of the length of the course, but because of the sheer SIZE of the crowds... 37,000 people! Yikes. In fact, Dennis FINISHED before I even started! A couple of thoughts... it was COLD! below 32 when we left the house at 7AM - and my wave didn't actually take off until 9:52AM!!! So we bought a couple of throw-away sweatshirts from goodwill to layer in... That worked out well... I just tossed it on the side of the road when I was ready to take it off. Next time around, I won't be so honest about being a run/walker and will sign up in the runner space because I was having to weave in and out of walkers, run up and down on a curb, avoid people who just "stopped" to take random pictures... ugh! I was so frustrated at the end that Dennis just laughed out loud at me and said "I think you might be becoming a real runner!!! That is the kind of stuff that really pisses them off!". Huh. Who woulda thunk it? I also thought before the race that this would be the only 10K I would do because the length was pretty overwhelming. BUT... I am going to sign up for the "Run like a Girl" 8K in May, and possibly consider some other 10K's as well! I think I got over a bit of a mental hurdle, in that truly, slow and steady will win the race. The first two miles I pretty much walked because of the sheer size of the crowds... I didn't get into any good grooves on running until the end when it started thinning out... Fun times, being with Dennis and my friends and the party atmosphere - but not sure about the size of the crowds! The picture above is of my girlfriend Ali and me after the race having our glass of wine (remember - we run so we can drink!)... My finish time was 1:27:12, so not as good a speed as last weekend, but not surprised given the amount of people! I need to sign up for a few more races over the next few months (before it gets God-Awful hot here) so that I can be well on my way to meeting my mileage goal... but almost half way there! When I can get some pix of just how big the crowd was, I'll post them!

Congrats Sarah. On March 6, 2011, you should do the disney Princess 10k with me! That is my goal this year, start jogging and enter races and thats one that is on my list. My friends did it 3 weeks ago and had a blast.
Fabulous Sarah! My hat's off to you!

10K is awesome. I think you are a runner.
Congratulations!!!!
Way to go! You are inspirational.
You are AMAZING Sarah!! I ran for 8 mins straight today, walked for five and ran another 8 mins. Next workout for C25k is running straight for 20 minutes. My mind instantly tells me "there is no way that YOU can do that Jen". But I'm going to try as hard as I can and will think of you the entire time. You are definitely my running inspiration!!! xoxo
I love the " we run so we can drink" Classic Running is such a powerful movement.. Atm I can run a few hundred meters before I need to fall down haha... This is one of my goals for the next 12 months! Keep blogging I love reading your blogs ! xxx

Sarah - Hopefully you don't mind, but I had to find this headband. Not sure if it's the same one you have, but I found this website - www.bondiband.com that has it for $8.00 s/h $3.95. I know, not only am I stalker, but now I want to be you.
I agree with Dennis you are sounding like a real runner. So glad you enjoyed the atmosphere if not the crowds
Congrats! So inspiring, I'm working towards running 5K.
