tomorrow's 8K

Well, the scale is up today - no big surprise! Duh. Nothing that a cheeseburger caused or anything!!! Still worth every bite, and let's be honest - it wasn't the cheeseburger that pushed it over the edge. In fact, I am actually lower today than I was yesterday. Oh well... enough food/weight discussion. Move on. ~*~*~ Tomorrow is the Shamrock 8k - my first race by myself (i.e. no friends there talking me off the cliff before it starts, etc...). Dennis, Lu and I are heading to Virginia Beach tonight and then they will be doing lord-knows-what during my hours of running / walking. And the kicker? No Ipods allowed! WTF! I am not sure I know how to run without my hiphop mix pushing me along! Yikes! I am nervously excited though... I'm # 23-THOUSAND-something... there will be plenty of noise! Yikes! HUGE crowd! I guess it will be a good overall test... time to really think, celebrate that I am actually doing this, let the voices be in my head but make sure that the voice is STRONG-sarah, and leave mean sarah behind in Richmond! I'll report back on how I do!!!

No ipods?? That seems so strange, what is the reasoning for that dumb rule? Good luck, you'll do fantastic!

Congrats on your race tomorrow, I know you are gonna kick some butt! Could you sneak your phone instead? I listen to Pandora on my blackberry when I run now. Just a thought but I bet the ipod nazi's wouldn't allow it!

The no ipod, mp3 player rule is in all of our races down here. They say it is a safety thing, so you can hear others...cars, etc. My boss does about 20 races a year and I just asked her if she ever DOESNT wear them...and she said she always wears them...regardless of what the rules say.

I wouldnt even give that damn hamburger I second thought! It was fuel for your race! And it was just once in 13 months. You and me just like to hang around the same number for a week or more!

Good luck on the race. Too bad they won't let you use the iPOD. Wonder why. I'd take it anyway and wait until I was out of view of the start line and plug in my headphones.

You are my hero. I can't wait to hear all about the race! I'd also have to have the iPod or the blackberry/Pandora thing.
Have a great race!!

GOOD LUCK!

Many races I ran back in the day had the no-headphones rule. I'd show up without them and EVERYONE had their music with them. I think it's an insurance requirement, so if someone gets hurt the race director can say they were breaking the rules. I've never seen anyone reprimanded for having an iPod.

A lot of my friends are marathon runners, and they all use their ipods regardless of the rules. GOOD LUCK!!!
