Cruising tips?

OK - has anyone been on a cruise post-lapband (AMY!)??? I've been on one pre-banding, but not post... and we're going on one soon. Looking for thoughts/ideas/suggestions about the experience being band-friendly! I'm not overly tight (probably looser than I would hope, but I'm okay with that for the trip)... and bringing my water bottle with me. Other ideas???

I'd love to hear the responses, as i am doing a cruise next Spring and I had wondered about the eating aspect of things. Where are you headed? We are doing Jamacia, the Cayman Islands and Mexico...I just hate that I have to wait another year!!

I did a cruise post-band but it was before any fills so I cannot give you much feedback from that one, but I am leaving for another one to Hawaii in 2wks, I will give you feedback when I return.

Yes, I cruised about a month ago with 5.8ccs in my 10cc band...at that time it was my "sweet spot". Here's what I did: pack a 5-6 protein powder servings in indv. baggies so god forbid you get a tummy bug or whatever, you can go on full liquids. I did this, but didnt' use/need 'em. For eating: most cruise lines have the shrimp cocktail as a mainstay on all menus, so that is a safe choice/good protien if you want (hopefully you like shrimp?). Also, take the stairs, not the elevator to burn those extra calories off. Have fun!

Oh yes ma'am. I am here! Wellllll, I had that little baby unfill right before the cruise bc I was super tight and PBing every day and didnt want that on the ship. But I still had pretty good restriction.

I gained 5 pounds if you remember! I got stuck at least 3 times, two of which were on the pizza that they serve at any hour. Dont get the pizza! Bc trying to find a bathroom on a cruise ship to PB in IS NOT EASY! We did the sit down dinners every night, and I just went slow, took nibbles of this and that, and went crazy with the molten chocolate cake topped with ice cream (hellloo five pounds). So just be careful and mindful!

And have fun!!!

Hey there, I did a cruise when i was super tight and my band was slipped and i didn't even know it. I found eating in the dining room for meals instead of the buffet kept me from overeating. I never felt deprived. I ordered what I wanted and ate a little bit of everything. I did get super tight for a few days in the middle of the cruise (my band was slipped, so I probably over did it on steak or something) and kind of kept it to soups and such. There always seems to be something on the menu you can eat. Remember room service is a provided service, so I would always order my coffee and some fruit and yogart in the room in the morning and have something healthy while getting ready and then eat breakfast with the rest of the family if I wanted or just have some juice. It went just fine. Have fun.
