Sham-ROCK-ON!

Yippee... I finished!!! My time was 1:08:27.... pretty darn good, I'd say! I'm slowly improving my pace by 10th's of a second... first race I was running a 14.15 minute mile, now up to a 13.65... not a huge improvement, but better pace than my previous races!!! Of the 4.97 miles, I ran about 3.5 of it... not to mention the 1.5 miles to walk to the start and then back to the hotel... so a total of at least 8 miles yesterday, 5 "official" ones!!! I am SORE today - hips are really hurting, but in a good way. Next week is the 10K, and I have no doubt I can finish it!!! Here are some pictures of the race... I actually did a little video-log while I was running that as soon as I can figure out how to import, I will!!! Thanks for all the support and good wishes!!!
Starting our 1.5 mile walk at 7:15 AM to the Start Line...
King Neptune, Me & Lu - 10 minutes before start time
Dennis managed to get a picture as I ran by... I saw Lucia at mile 4.1 and got a big, sloppy kiss... helped get me to the finish line!
Right after finishing... legs were WOBBLY!!!
9:30 AM - what a way to finish the race... with a beer! And...
A bowl of Irish Beef Stew.... Beer & Stew at 9:30 - Breakfast of Champions!!!
Lucia crossing the finish line of her kids marathon (26.2 yards)... and she walked another 3+ miles yesterday on top of that! Needless to say, slept VERY well last night!
Fun Family picture...
Got to spend a few hours with my nephew, Gage and with Mom-Mom & Pop-Pop (below) too!!!

YaYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! congratulations! I went down there yesterday morning - just in case I saw you or recognized you. HOLY COW there were a TON of people!! What an awesome day to run! You look FANTASTIC in your pics - your legs are so small- and you look skinny! Wooot! I heard you guys got medals for the 8k this year - that's awesome and the way it should be! They used to only give medals for the half and full. Yesterday was actually nicer that today is here in VA Beach. I am so proud of your accomplishment! I'll join ya next year! I am also planning to run the rock and roll half marathon in September. I've been running for 3 weeks now - I even got up before sunrise this morning to run and I really enjoyed it. My knees really hurt - but I hope that will soon pass as I get stronger.
Again - way to go girl - you Shamrocker!!!!!!!!!!!

That is so awesome. What an achievement. Can you remind me at what weight you started running? Just walking gives me shin splints. I used to run when I was thinner and I loved it, but I don't feel like there is any way I can do it now at 269.
