RUNNING shoes, that is!!! So Dennis and I went out to get new shoes today... He's run forever. I just started 2 weeks ago... These are the shoes I got (Asics Gel, GT-2140). $100. YIKES! Who knew decent shoes were so expensive?!?!? (Well, I knew for work shoes but since I've never really focused on exercise, I didn't know that these would be too)... I ended up getting a men's size 8.5 because the width fit better. And the funny thing? I'm actually EXCITED to try them out tomorrow morning (ROFLOL). Who woulda thunk it?!?!? Amazing. I love the fact that I am looking forward to exercise. I'm already trying to figure out what I'll do when it is cold, icy, rainy, etc... Guess we need to break out the treadmill into a space that we can actually use it. I really didn't think I would ever see the day that I was excited to run. It looks like tomorrow morning we'll be up to 5 of us on the street running together... I am so incredibly grateful that I have such a great bunch of neighbors... and friends. That they would support me in this way is such an incredible blessing. The funniest part of the day??? Dennis, who has run FOREVER also needed new shoes. Guess what... he ended up choosing the same exact pair! (LOL) Now all we need are the matching velour work-out suits...

I've got this mental picture of the two of you in your velour..oooooo! Maybe not. Enjoy the run. You are inspiring me. I might actually run someday - cool.
Enjoy your run tomorrow!!! New gear makes it just that little more fun. Cara
Sweet new shoes! I love Asics. As for the weather, it is another good excuse to load up on running gear - the gloves, hats, jackets - and try to run outside as long as you can. Around here, that means up until about Thanksgiving. After that, it is still doable, but not as pleasant.
Some days you will have to get on the Dreadmill...ugh. Ours is in the basement, just feels like going to the dungeon! But even when I do the D'mill, I still feel great afterwards!
Keep up the good work!
New shoes! Wohoo! Which reminds me I need to get one myself? Are Asics running shoes good? Cause from where I'm from, Asics are a not so popular brand. Not many shops sell them.
Aww, how cute, matching shoes (and possible velour outfits, now what colour would you get LOL!)
My old personal trainer once told me that running shoes you get, albeit expensive, will be a godsend...because you will be pounding the pavement and the stress that runs through your body is being absorbed in the feet! To me it is worth the cost!!!! Happy Running!
Congrats on the new shoes. I also felt faint the first time I bought some @ $125 which were Mizunos but have since bought 2 more pairs in a brand called Brooks, which are just as expensive, and I LOVE them! The running comes easier although I have days I want to scream. Stick with it...you will get there!
I have the same shoes in the wonmen's version!! I love them and I think you will too!!
I think blue velour would be hot...LOL!!
I hope to run some day too and to see these blogs with you guys running is such a huge inspiration!!
Ooh, love the mental image of the matching velour work-out suits!!
I have a wide foot, too, but never thought about trying the Men's side of things...thanks for the idea!
Niiicee.
I like the matching tracksuits, too. Yours could have a bejeweled saying on the but, like "juicy", just to jazz things up. Keep the neighbours guessing, you know.
Can't wait to see your first "new shoes" post, I bet you'll feel a difference.
Not the velour! Congrats on starting to run. I'm jogging now...around the kitchen. lol, not quite ready for gravel, cement or a treadmill.
